2003 Boxster Trunk will not open

Hi,

I have a 2003 Boxster and the trunk will not open. I can hear the solenoid activate, but the trunk latch will not release. Is there a manual way to release the trunk? Help!!!!!!

Kurt

there is a manual pull cable behind the bumper. If the latch is broken, you are screwed. Also to get to the pull cable, you may have to open the trunk....

you should see it on drivers side behind the plastic wheel well cover.

trunk access

Hold on, it is very easy to remove the rear bumper, if even necessary, to access the emergency release. First look under the driver's side rear bumper and look for a cable with a loop on the end, pulling same will release the rear trunk. If you can not locate the looped cable, removing the bumper is not a big deal. I'm a desk jockey and had no trouble removing mine. Search this site for same for rear bumper removal, the dealer wanted a 3 hour service charge, I did mine in under an hour, found the cable which was bunched up behind the bumper and released the trunk,
