Fan noise - not a bad noise

Newbie here still What is the fan (on right side) that kicks in for about a minute after you start the car? Then it shuts off. Is it the cooling fan or some other vapor purge fan? I don't believe I have ever heard it kick in other than after it first starts up. Thanks!

There are two fans over there. One starts up when you start the engine (assuming is cold) and runs for about 30 seconds to supply extra oxygen for the catalytic converters: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Secondary_air_injection

The other fan cycles on to cool the engine bay, you'll heart it kick on on a warm day when sitting at a light, etc.

Is there an easy way to test the Engine Compartment Purge Fan?

Can I disconnect/unplug it and just put 12 Volts (DC) onto it to see if it works?

Or, can I just use a heat gun/hair dryer on the sensor?

Also, does anyone have a picture of the sensor and its location?

Thanks,
Mark
