engine code p0300 misfire

Hi great site with a lot of information,
I need help with my 99 boxster 2.7 with 65000 miles the engine light is on with 4 fault codes
p0300, p0301, p0302, p0303 misfire the car will barely rev up and driving it along it is hard to get above 30 mph,
there is a strong smell of unburnt fuel b ut it does not sound like its misfiring just the odd pop and bang not a constant misfire i tried cleaning the airflow sensor and reseting the engine light but it is still the same
has anyone come across anything similar ???
regards Dave

Did you just do the 60k service? (changed the plugs amongst other things).
They are misfire codes. My best *guess* is either cracked coil pack(s) or loose packs.

I agree with you as those codes (301-303) are for all the cylinders on bank 1 -- something is going on there......

Hi thanks for the reply it is due a service it hasn't been carried out yet I will swop the coil packs to the other side when I change the plugs to see if that helps
it seems strange that all 3 would go at once it idles fine just wont rev !!

That's exactly how our car ran when we had a broken valve spring.

Initially thought it was a coil pack.

just an update ::
I changed the plugs and swopped the coil packs from left to right, I then reset the airflow sensor with it disconnected and it ran fine no faults,
I then replaced the airflow sensor and the car is back to full power happy days!!!
