I've heard slotted rotors are hell on brake pads. Quick question...under fairly normal use with some hard driving, what is a ballpark on oem brake pad life? I was think of upgrading my pads to Pagid oranges when my stock pads wear out as I hear these are among the best. Anyone have any experience with Pagid pads? Impressions?

I have heard as little as 40k all the way up to 80k for pad life,me personally 53k. I have put on the Pagid pads offered by ******************************** AZ,$130 New front and back. I LOVE IT,after getting rid of the worn pads and replacing with Pagid its like a completely different brake system. I have only driven 50 miles on them though, darn work, college and barber are all on same street 3 miles from my house.

have a look here at this forum http://www.germanlook.com/Forums/forumdisplay.php?f=10

Its a forum for VW beatles who tend to upgrade to porsche brakes quite often. My friend is in the process of upgrading the brakes on his beatle with 996 (i think) brakes and the cost is becoming ridiculous. There should be some useful info on problems you may encounter on the forum.
