'02s won't start after driving short distance

Thank you in advance for any words of advise!

This just happened for the first time today:

Drove around 10 miles, had lunch for about 70 minutes, car started right up as usual. Drove another 10 miles or so, parked in parking garage and returned to the car after about 15-20 minutes. This time car wouldn't start. All electical systems were ok. Turn the key and nothing but the noise from the fan. Tried to start it several times with the same responce. Waited about 5 more minute, and tried it again, and it started right up. Drove it home and after pulling it into the garage, I turned it off and then back on with it not starting again. The temp gauges are normal, full tank of gas, and new battery. Car is in excellent condition. Any ideas as to what may be happening? Bad relay??

Thanks!

If the car is a manual, check the clutch switch. If that's OK, next stop is the ignition switch.

If the battery is new, what most likely happened was that you did not fully depress the clutch pedal ALL the way down to the bottom when you tried to start the car. There is a clutch switch that j.fro mentioned, which must be fully depressed, in order for you to start the car.

I had a similar problem. Car didnt start and all electrical items working.
The dealer checked it and it was my key. The small chip inside your remote key sends a signal to the car to verify authentic key. Unfortunately I only have 1 key.

Once I got a new key and reprogrammed to the car, it works no problem.
Cost for one new key and reprogram to the car is $500.

Do you have an extra key to check if this is the problem?
