First off, why do you want to run a 275-40-17? That will make for a decent bit of speedo error. A 275 width tire is also a bit wide to be fitted to a 9" rim.

As to the need for a spacer, unless your tires are bulging out over the time, the need for spacers or not is dictated by the size and offset of the rim, and from what you've posted, you should have plenty of clearance with those wheels.

the only reason i want to run 275/40/17 is they are for track and autox use...not for daily driver...so i dont mind the speedo error at all....
