Shift Linkage?

Hello,

My apologies if this has been addressed before. I couldn't find a thread discussing this exact topic. Has anyone had this happen?

Recently rebuilt tranny - 60 days in, so far, everything was fine. I was coming up to a stoplight yesterday morning & couldn't engage 1st. It just felt rubbery & wouldn't slot in. Luckily, I could engage 2nd and was able to get home. After some investigating, I noticed that I basically couldn't access any of the "forward gears" - R, 1, 3, 5. I could slot into 2, 4, 6 just fine. This "sounds" like it should be a relatively inexpensive / low # hours fix. Am I wrong? I doubt it's related to the actual gears, but seems to be related to the shifter or a cable, or clips.

I found this post on renntech.org & it seems like someone had the exact same problem. Just wondering if anyone here has had this happen or knows off the top of their head what it sounds like? I'll take the car in on Wednesday.

As suspected -

Turned out to be a tiny clip that only costs $43. We have 2. One for each direction in the gearbox (R,1,3,5 & 2,4,6.) One hour of labor, so not bad at all.
