Top Trouble

Our top goes up and down fine. The windows lower as they should. The problem we're having is that the top motor doesn't stop, as it should, when the top is finished cycling...neither up nor down. The top light on the dash doesn't go off either. Anyone know what I should be looking at. I imagine it's one of the microswitches, but which one?

Well, it's either the left B-pillar Microswitch, or the convertible-top compartment lid
Microswitch, the other 2 (parking brake, top lock) do not deactivate the motor, so that narrows it a little. The 1st two work together, so either could be the bad one.

The best thing to do is test them both for continuity by hooking a DMM up to their electrical connectors and then inserting a slim screwdriver to activate them. Don't be surprised if they both pass, because just inserting the screwdriver could jar them loose. You'll need to be in the service position to access the convertible-top compartment lid Microswitch.

They could be sticking, mis-aligned, or failed. It is possible that the relay is at fault, but this seems less likely.
