Help! 2000 986 Boxster s handbrake light is OFF!

I can't open or close the roof because the hand brake light is off. The hand brake is working properly but the hand brake light on the control panel is OFF. Why?
Please advise.

that's no biggie. Its because the ebrake switch is on its last leg and that has to work for top to go down or up. Try pulling the ebrake lever up and down till u see the brake light turn on, on the dash. Once it lights u can lower or raise the top.

Got it, I need to replace the ebrake switch but P dealers are close Sat/Sun...in case the above method does not work is there a way to close or open the top without using the handbrake? a short cut?

thanks again,

When you first insert your key and turn but don't start all dumbie lights come on. The top should operate then.

U can remove the switch and close the circuit on the two wires on the connector. That will keep the ebrake light turned on
