guy where can i get the plug from beside dealer?which type beru or boss ?double poll or four poll?do u guy got the part's no at all?thank's

On a 2.5 the factory plugs are Bosch FR 7 LDC4 or Beru 14 FR 7 LDU. Both have 2 side electrodes. The brand does not matter and Porsche has used both brands.

Does anyone [toolpants] know if Beru contracts from Bosch, are they really the same.

Try an import parts place.

Beru is French and Bosch is German. They are separate companies. Their plug for the 2.5 look almost identical. But with the 4 side electrode plug there is a difference.

The 2 on the left are for a 2.5 and the others are for e-gas. By going from 2 to 4 side electrodes Porsche went from 30k to 60k miles before the plugs need to be changed.

I got the Bosch four electrode plugs at Advanced Auto. They were so cheap I can't remember the price.

What you probably got is the Bosch Platinum+4 which you can find anywhere. Only the center electrode has a tiny platinum tip welded on. The 4 electrode plugs used by Porsche are not the same, as they are copper.

I was going to try the Platinum+4 and I talked to a mechanic at my dealer who is a PCA tech advisor. He said he has seen the tip come off and damage the engine. Then I searched on the Pelican board and there were reports from owners who said the same thing, plus the car did not run well with the +4.

So I went with what Porsche uses.

As I remember I couldn't get the Platinum+4 for a Boxster only the copper. They have been running fine for about 2000 miles.

I just replaced my plugs with NGK and they seem fine

Some years ago I installed a set of NGKs in the 911SC I had at the time. I later took the car in to an independant Porsche shop for a major maintenance, and got my butt chewed by the mechanic for putting NGKs in it.
Funny thing was, a year later they were installing NGKs themselves.
Go figure.

Hey Tool Pants, do you have any knowledge on Iridium spark plugs? I know Denso makes these types of plugs, and am wondering if they would be safe to put in the Boxster?

I have never tried them, but there are 2 local people people who have. They took them out because the car did not run well.

Is anybody running the 2.7L plugs in a 2.5? Typically in all my cars I have always gone one step colder or so (mostly turbo cars with huge turbo's etc) and the lower temp worked out quite well.

Any reason at all to run the new style 4 sided plug in the older motor?
