Dashboard Console Storage

I am taking out the CD storage unit on my 2002 Boxster S and replacing it with the storage unit from 2000 Boxster. Can I leave the A/C controls on the bottom of the dash console or do they need to be moved up and the storage unit placed on the bottom of the console?

You can leave the AC controls where they are or move them up to where to cupholders are but you would have to get another storage bin.
