Hey, on second thought, get some Red Line Water Wetter, and when he is not looking, put it in his fuel tank.

Power/weight ratio, 1/4 mile, breaking distance, slalom, drag coefficient all favor the Boxter assuming he is not in a Z4M.

The only way to know for sure is... wait! Do I smell a challenge? I think I do! Find the next open track day in your area and tell him to meet you there and bring his helmet. Solo timed runs, fastest time wins. Loser buys the steaks and beer afterwards. It will be a good bonding day with the ol' VP.

This will also pit driver against driver. If you are a better driver, you can be in a much slower car and still beat his times.

Here is another U-tube challenge with Boxter, Z4 and Honda S2000. It includes lap times and is good for a chuckle.

Muahahah!!

Totally depends on which model he has. Find out the year. The 2003 3.0 has 225hp, which is very close to your 217hp. Straight line figures are very close also. The later years have 255hp which is close to 986S.

I was considered the z4 before I got the box. The two cars are really close. The z4 posted 2mph higher slalom speed than the 986S which is a surprise. I think the consensus is the box is easier to drive hard, and more forgiving. In a race, it will be up to shear will power and preperation. Either that or treachery. Note: sabotage with WW will need 9 months before your race.

Since he laid down the challenge, you go first and he has to pass you.
Use the Boxster's big brakes. Brake hard, dive into the corners, and win the curvy bits.
As you exit into the straights where he has the advantage, just don't give him the hand signal to pass (it's DE rules, right?). How hard can it be? It's like a free steak and beer....

but I agree, a day at the track with true car people can be fun, regardless of the outcome. If he's a Type A, let it go and go back to work.
