I have 2005 "S" 6000kms, and I dont find this 'sluggish' problem.
In fact my car starts off in 2nd.(like all P car triptronics) and even then there is no hint of "load'. The climate where I live (India) is very hot and a/c is a must. Guess you need to check your a/c belt. It could be too tight.
