Gas Pedal Mystery

I have a 2001, and my pedal also does not move without the feel of some resisitance. A friend of mine who owned a 98 in the past was the 1st to notice the pedal issue.

I had the local steeler, look at it when in for my last service and they claimed to have cleaned the rheostat and cable, but I felt no difference. So I live with it.

I did buy a pedal assembly from ebay and it moves effortlessly. Must be the rheostat that creats that resistance feel.

There is an E-gas controller up under the dash, with a cable that runs to the pedal. This is what sends a signal to the DME to open the butterfly. These can, and do, go bad and will get rough, jumpy, and non linear. Yes, you can replace it and that will likely cure your driveability issues.

did you get this problem fixed? I am wondering what the solutioin for this one is. My pedal seems to have the same problem. Would buying a new pedal on ebay fix the problem or is it something in the line?
