Dropping the top

When retracting the convertible roof the windows drop to roughly 2/3rds to obviously protect them and make the process easier for the mechanisim to operate.

However, once the roof has fully retracted and the dash light goes out why don't the windows then raise back up automatically just like they do when the hood goes back up and the lock is engaged ?

I have then been closing the windows fully, but am wondering if this is a design feature and the windows are best left where they are, would it help aerodynamics / cabin noise? Any ideas ?

PS. Just travelled 1600 miles around Scotland, this has cost me £160 in fuel ($290 for our american friends), which ain't too bad for the car. Ran like a dream.
