986 Video GHL Exhaust and Cat Bypass
For those of you who are wanting a GHL muffler and want to know what it sounds like. Here is a video of me driving around. Also I recently install Fabspeeds cat bypass pipes and allot of the drone has gone away. Now it sounds more like a cup car. Its not quite but it sounds mean. Let me know what you think.

@ obeney,
Do you think the sound in the video does the car's exhaust justice? Sounds pretty basa55 as is. Does anyone on here that has Che's exhaust on their car sound like the GHL in the clip? Just checking because I heard the one produced by Top Speed,Che's parts provider, is a GHL clone.

I have the GHL race exhaust (literally pretty much straight pipes with some resonated tips). Sounds amazing above 4k, but has a pretty bad resonance between 2 and 3. Did adding the secondary cat bypasses really help the resonance? If so I'd be VERY interested in doing this mod.

Sounds like a million bucks... I don't care if it doesn't add hp I may have to look into that.

When people risk their lives, shouldn't it be for something very important?
Well, it better be.
But what is so important about driving faster than anyone else?
Lots of people go through life doing things badly. Racing's important to men who do it well.
When you're racing, it's life. Anything that happens before or after is just waiting.

GHL Exhaust Video
Great video clip! I got a GHL as well on mine. Yes still resonance 2-3K RPM. Less with a 3.4L swap. One main reason is the redline is higher and you can hang around 3K RPM+ and avoid that spot and the engine isn't working as so hard as my 2.5L was. You shld do a video from outside and have someone film you taking off. The Boxster sounds amazing from outside with a GHL. I researched many exhausts and their sounds and decided on this one as it was IMHO the best sounding and the meanest. Probably one of the loudest too. But not for everyone. Thanks again for the video!!!

very nicely done video. I've been looking into GHL exhausts and I think I may just pull the plug.

Che's headers and exhaust are on my car and it sounds a lot like the video posted on this thread. Resonance is present as well, but I'm now liking it!

I will try and get some video from the outside this weekend. When I first installed the GHL I was very disappointed with the amount of resonance I had. I even wrote them a letter complaining about it. I was constantly keeping the revs above 3K or below 2k. My wife hated to ride in the car.
I recently installed the Fabspeed Cat Bypass pipes and it changed for the better. The ear piercing resonance has diminished quite a bit. It can still be annoying between 2K-3K but it’s not nearly as bad. I love the sound now. It’s rawer and I think it’s what a Porsche should sound like. I even had the service guys at the dealership ask me if I had a Tubi exhaust on the car, which they sell.

I have a GHL exhaust installed on my 00 986 S and was very happy until I saw a video of a CAYMAN with Tubi exhaust.(google video) on the track. this guy hit the redline all day.. Damn it sounded like a Ferrari 355....The high pitch sound is what I was looking for!
Unfortunately, Tubi does not make it for 986. bummer!. I may have to sell my 986 for a 987.
anyone here have EVO intake? I hear it adds 8 bph and sound.

With the FabSpeed cat Bypass did you have issue with the CEL (check engine light) issue?

Nope. Because you are only removing the second set of cats you don't touch any of the o2 sensors.

Obeney, did the bypass reduce the sound of the exhaust at all or was it just as loud as before?
