CDR23 Fuse

Before I try to extract the CDR 23 unit from the dash, could anyone tell me if this unit its own fuse as well as the fuse thats in the fuse panel. I got in the car this morning and the radio/cd player is completely dead. Ive checked the fuse in the footwell and all seems well. Ive read somewhere of an additional 10 amp fuse.
I am presuming that US models are the same as UK models.
2.7 2003 facelift model

Many Thanks
Tiggsy

Whilst awaiting the tool to extract the radio, the alarm started to sound on sunday night, car was in garage hood down and unlocked. Couldnt deactivate mainly through panic. However it did eventually stop. The car then wouldnt start and the windows and spoiler started mis behaving, with all the symptoms of a flat battery. I have fitted a new battery and everything seems okay. I was wondering if the radio not working could possibly have anything to do with this occurence ie being detectable by the alarm system. So far everything seems ok and the tool to extract the radio as arrived from Germany today. So fingers crossed lets hope its that 10 amp fuse behind the CD23 and thats the end of it.

Unfortunately the 10 amp fuse was in tact and the CDR23 still aint working. Ive heard of various sequencies of pressing buttons to get the damn thing up and running. All passed on to me with confidence but no luck. Borrowed a Multi tester today to see if the supply wires are in fact live. The final curtain may well be the £478.63p (god knows what that is in dollars) that the local OPC want to replace the head unit. I did notice when the head slid out of the dash board that the casing was noticeably warm. However I think there are two live wires to the unit one from the Amplifier and the other from the ignition switch.

Any last comments before I throw the CDR23 wife kids dog and myself in the river!

I think it’s time to start looking for an aftermarket radio :

My CDR23 just went dead a coupla days ago. Faceplate was on, mute was off, just no sound on AM or FM. Turned radio on/off several times to no avail. Was dreading troubleshooting or radio replacement by dealer 2+ hours away.

Then stopped for brief shopping errand. Fired back up and radio was fine. Demonic possession is my best guess.
