Low Pressure light ON is the indication of problem in oil pump or oil pressure gauge. It is better to stop the car and turn off the engine

Agree with the others - don't drive it until you can do some testing. Low oil pressure at idle could definitely signal a dying oil pump, but you won't know until you're able to get a remote oil pressure gauge attached to read pressure in the system. You'll also need to know what the tolerances are for the factory pump and gauge.

If you're lucky, it's simply a gauge problem...if not, you're looking at mechanical replacement of the oil pump. Don't know how involved that is on these cars, but it's better to figure it out and get things sorted before a more expensive repair comes up!

Please keep everyone posted on what you discover!

Put a mechanical gauge on it today 10 psi when motor is hot with 5w-40 oil. What would be the thickest oil I could run .Live in the south west.
