Definitely time for an update...
The Boxster has been mostly trouble free... I say mostly, as I came close to experiencing the IMS failure. I took it to Dundon Motorsports (Gig Harbor, WA) with an odd noise. They diagnosed it as an IMS going out. I was lucky, of the dozens that they have replaced, he said mine was one of three that drove in.

While it was in for the IMS service, the following was changed:
  • Flywheel, Clutch, Pressure Plate,
  • Rear main seal
  • Front motor mount

Thanks to the the info on this forum I've done:
  • De-snorkel the intake
  • Removed the 2nd cats
  • Crios exhaust mod
I'm very pleased with the sound the Boxster makes now. A low RPM rumble. No cruising drone. And I find the high RPM intake growl similar to my old 914 with Webers.

Here's a current photo of my 2000S Silver w/ Cinnamon leather after a week cleaning the wheels before the new tires were installed.
