'03 Boxster S

Howdy everyone.

I picked up an '03 Boxster S w/ 30k miles on it two months ago. It's my daily driver. Within a week of getting it I took it in for the 30K maintenance and had the RMS changed, front struts changed, and the water pump was going bad as well. Hopefully the car should be problem free for a couple of years.

Right now the only thing I've done to it is the DRL hack.

I'm also upgrading the sound. I've ordered a Pioneer MVH P8300BT to replace my CDR-23, an Alpine PDX F4 amp, and Focal Access 165 A3 6.5-Inch 3-Way Component Speakers. They will be coming in Monday. Hopefully they will be installed by the end of next week.

Since the head unit doesn't play cds, I've ordered the upper console storage shelf from suncoast.

I've been reading this forum for a couple of months now and just wanted to say hello to everyone.

Welcome, and excellent color choice!

Your car looks like a twin to mine- Lapis blue/grey. What color is your top?

beige or grey. I'd like to eventually replace it with black or a hard top.

That looks like grey to me. Mine is metropol blue, and pretty worn out. I'm thinking about getting a grey top, though I already have the hardtop and may just stick with that instead...

I have an '03 986 S I bought new. It developed an oil leak at 30k and the dealership replaced the RMS during the 30k service. The dealer recommended doing the clutch too since the back of the motor was taken apart. I declined.

Did your mechanic mention this? My clutch feels fine and I wondered if you have replaced yours.

Cheers
Seal Gray, with Gray interior black top

I live in the DC area so I got a TipTronic. Traffic sucks too much for a manual.

I live in Bethesda, MD, 15 min from D.C. You are right. The roads and traffic do suck. But my Boxster is still a manual.

3 weeks ago, I was driving around on the broken messed up streets of D.C. On 7th street my car started to beep everytime I stepped on the brakes or accelerated slightly quickly. I took the fuse of the horn out so that it stops bothering me. $360 to fix quoted at Porsche dealership on Rockville Pike/355. I need to save up for that.
