Here's the itinerary

Itinerary for 2004 Fall Foliage Drive

Departing From:
McDonalds in Ayer, MA, 9:15 AM
To get to McDonalds, take Route 2 West to 110 North. Drive 2.2 miles, you'll see McDonalds off the rotary. We'll park on the left side. Please arrive with at least 3/4 tank of gas and be prompt.

Rt. 2 West (Mohawk Trail) to just West of Rt. 91 to meet up with the ESBB folks at approx 10:30. The meet point will be at the McDonalds (same as last year).

Continue on Rt. 2 West until just West of North Adams and take Rt. 7 North into Vermont. This will unfortunately bring us through Bennington, VT, but I just cannot see a decent way around the town. Last year we got snagged a bit here. Continue North on 7 until 7A North. This will take us into Manchester Village. Lunch reservation is set for 1PM at the Marsh Tavern. Hopefully our timing is good and we can get in there by 12:30. Another possible route could be 7 North to rt. 313 west to 7A up to the lunch stop. See the 3rd map above.

After lunch we'll head back South a bit to Mt. Equinox and do the Skyline Drive. Bring a few bucks ($6 or $8) for the toll. Hopefully they won't remember us from last year ļ.

After Equinox we can play it by ear. I would like to avoid the backup that we hit last year through Manchester Village. We can travel back South on 7A to rt. 313 East and back to rt. 7. From here we can decide how much more scenic driving we want to do. In past years people are starting to get a little gassed. Depending on the route north we can take the alternate route south and maybe hit rt. 9 East back to Brattleboro and back to 91. MarkM has posted a couple of options as well. We can figure this out at lunch and at Equinox and gauge people's feelings.

If you have them please bring radios. Channel will be the usual 8-6.
