Push Rod for Convertible Top Transmission Pivot

The link with the red socket disintegrated but worse, the ball it attaches to came off. It is held onto the bracket with a nut and I have tried every position with the top and I cannot get my hand in there to even start the piece. Has anyone done this that can point me in the right direction as how to access this?

a tip, if you are replacing the rod, don't adjust the cup on the threaded end, use the nut to adjust the length because mine broke after 1/4 turn. luckily, I now find eBay has just the socket ends.

thanks in advance
