I have just replaced the Tiptronic transmission in my 98 Boxster and I am having some issues. After completing the install I anxiously took the car out for a short test run. I have an alternate blinking gear indicator light between 4th and D. I know from a little research this is the Tiptronic “safe mode” but I will describe what I’m seeing anyway. I have read that this safe mode allows the transmission to only function in fourth gear but that doesn’t seem to be the case here. The transmission seems to shift through the first few gears as it should (Since this was an initial test run I didn’t try to get it up to the higher gears). I tried switching over to manual but this isn’t working at all. I am going to get back under the car and disconnect, Clean, and reconnect the two harnesses that go to the transmission. Also I have an ODBII scan tool and will try to reset the ECU. I am posting this to gather any other suggestions. I have read several threads on this forum and have been very impressed with the level of expertise of the members. Thanks in advance!
