carbon fiber trim
trim in my boxster is a little scratched in some places, thought I would touch it up by using carbon fiber vinyl.

I am not overly happy with the results. the vinyl itself looks great, but I made a few mistakes along the way. the center console was by far the most difficult piece. lots of curves and inserts. my biggest mistake was that I got the 12 inch roll of vinyl. it was a bit too short for the console. I made it work, but had to heat and stretch it, which caused issues. also, having to stick, pull up and re-stick the vinyl caused it to start loosing it's adhesion. you can do it a few times, but after that it is iffy.
I will most likely order some 36 in or wider vinyl and redo the center console later. good enough for an amateur for now :) here are photos of it done and installed. carbon fiber trim - a set on Flickr |
