Hood crest installation?

Hello all

My hood crest fell off the hood and only the pins and nuts were still on. So I order an original one from pelican parts without even looking at the process thinking I would only have to screw the nuts.

well to my surprise when the new crest arrived, there is not tread on the two pins. So i unscrew the old nuts and find out its not really nut, but a cap feel with some paste that is dry out and falling out the nut. Still the old pins look like they have some kind of tread to them.

So now, how do I install the new crest? Can I make some tread to the pins? I'm afraid the pins will broke from the crest if I try that. Will epoxy glue be stong enought to old the faux nuts on the pins if there is no tread on them?

How did you guys did it?

Thanks
Chris

All sounds correct to me. I have replaced mine and taken it on and off many times. You can press it on but it should be screwed on with a socket and finger tight only, it should hold just fine. I haven't heard on one breaking off like yours did.

The nuts cut threads into the posts
Use a dab of silicone on each one to seal out moisture.
