Replacing reversing light switch

I have tried the easy stuff for failed reversing lights (bulbs and fuse) so I guess I need to get underneath and test the switch. It is a manual gearbox (stick shift). This will be my first time working on the Boxster - I usually stick to much older and easier cars.

Can anyone tell me where the switch is? And do I need to remove the cover under the gearbox? If I need to get that off, are there 8 bolts to undo, or are some I can see not necessary to remove it?

Thanks for any help.
