Idea that may be worth considering - sell the car w/o the hardtop to CarMax for $6,400 and sell the top and the extra wheels and tires separately. The top should net you about $1,000 plus the wheels and tires should be worth some decent money. Little more work but you get a big chuck of the cash right away.

IMHO - Selling season starts around March....if you're in the Southeast....even sooner.

Problem is the "S" isn't selling that well either. Not desirable enough to really push the price or move the cars. Thank goodness we like them well enough...

Timing may very well be a factor however.
