A German Boxster, huh? What will they think of next? A Japanese Toyota? Or how about an American Ford. I bet that would be cool...

You guys are brutal!

Remember years back when Ford advertised the original Tarus as the World Car?

Those German Boxsters are rumored to be built with a double turbo, and flux capacitor. I may trade my Fin one in soon!!

?????? ?????? so if your Boxster is not built in Germany, then you dont have a real Porsche. Wow, I thought Carrera owners were hard on us, but now we shun our own. I guess a BMW built in N. Carolina is not really a Bimmer.

I guess you better tell that to the company. They are selling cars not made in GERMANY as Porsches.

If you are a lawyer, you have a great suit here.

BTW-Are you implying that German workers can assemble a car better than Finnish workers? If so, where's your data?

I wonder how expensive.. KBB says a completely loaded 1997, in excellent condition has a value of 21,450.. not to mention the premium for being made in Germany! Not sure of your price, but 1) its winter in most of the US and 2) it is an 11 year old sports car... in a market where HELOCs are dead and folks struggling with wanting a car requiring premium fuel. 3) There are over 100 Boxsters on EBay alone, let alone the other hundreds on other advertising venues.

In my research when buying my Boxster, it was said the Finland built cars (Valmet) were built as good OR BETTER than their german counterparts.

Regardless... Good luck on your sale. May you find a buyer quickly at a price that can be agreed upon. Replacing it with another neat toy?

I wonder if he really knows how many of the parts in his "German" Boxster were not made in Germany.

That is unequivocally correct!! A BMW built in North Carolina would raise some red flags. Not to say there's anything wrong with North Carolina, but given the lack of BMW plants there, I picture an old tobacco farmer building X5's in his garage, and I get concerned...

Northern Germany to southern Finland is only about 760 miles. Less than a day's travel by Boxster, with a ferry ride too. It's probably about an hour and a half by plane, so it's pretty close.

Hey 986, in spite of my initial eager anticipation, I find I'm not really using my flux capacitor all that much. Wanna buy it? Make me an offer. (Now the double turbo...THAT'S a different story altogether!)

Bill (moviestarcars):

Everyone's had great fun with your first post about this car for sale, but frankly, my 97 was made in Finland and no one really cares where our cars were made because the build quality was the same, or so we all think... so perception is reality for us.

If you want someone to take some interest in this car, post pics of the exterior, interior, and explain what you mean by "loaded" because all boxsters came with leather interior, AC, electric windows, heated side mirrors, etc.

And state the asking price. If it's in the 15-17k range, you'll get some PM's about it. Anything north of this (20k or a bit more) will now buy a 2000 S with a much larger engine in it.

This is unsolicited advice, but hey, it beats the crap out of making fun of your listing and is constructive... not to say I haven't enjoyed the banter, but I would like to help you sell this excellent specimen to a Pcar enthusiast.
