Factory oil pump and two oil coolers and accusump
 

I already have an accusump with several feet of oil lines and I’m thinking about adding two small oil coolers. Do you think the factory oil pump hand this?

Probably not. When speaking with a Porsche factory engineer some years ago, I asked why they had not designed the cars with an air to oil cooler up front, and he said the oil pump couldn’t deal with all the volume created by the lines.

Are you actually running hot oil temp wise?

Keep it simple you already have a fair number of "new" variables on your car.

I had a VW rail buggy yrs ago, 2234 and oil ran hot. So I added a Gene Berg sump and a large oil cooler I got off eBay that was used in Nascar. It changed temps from riding from 45 mins to all day long. Think it was 9 qts overall. I'll see if I can get the pics back from Photobucket. Pressure didn't drop but I only went just above the engine.

I would say a single small oil cooler with fan, in addition to the factory heat exchanger (S or 997 version), should work well. If you have room in the back of the car, the lines would be much shorter.

I'd honestly get rid of the accusump.

Agree on both - You could also put the cooler in the flow of the right side engine air scoop. No fan needed.

My setup for 3 track seasons. I bought the sump kit came with 10' of braided 5/8" there is about 1 and 1/2 foot left.

Also added the 997 oil cooler. The wires go to a switch/Gnd the engine bay fan and relay for the cooler fans, and a pressure sender on oil sump and an additional sender on right head. the floor was cut out under the cooler blows down the right side of the transmission. the 2 air checks in the trunk rear corners were removed so air can come into them while fan runs as well as 8 hole in the front wall. You can see one at thw front end of the oil sump.

Is the 997 oil cooler larger than the 3.2 S?

The 997s one is, but not by a huge amount

My Boxster has nothing but the factory oil cooler on the 3.6 in terms of hardware. I do however, have a hose that feeds the cooler/starter area from the side, and two big fans above the engine as a whole. Oil temps never get much above 230-240 even on 100 degree days. Always read about adding coolers, etc. but I really have no need.

Thanks for all the feedback guys. I think you’re right, too many variables and I’m not sure how long I’ll stick with this engine anyways. Good to hear even a 3.6 isn’t having cooling problems. My 911 (which has a 3.6) gets hot on the track on really hot days But it also only has two radiators which makes absolutely no sense to me.

Getting ready to upgrade my 03 base oil cooler and want to confirm the 997 unit fits, as discussed above.
This is what I've been able to find on R0CK Auto:

996 107 025 07 -75mm tall (what I have)
996 107 025 57 -108mm tall
997 107 025 00 -123mm tall

will it fit?
