AAA towing service at the track?

I am wondering if anyone has used their AAA service to have their cars flatbedded home after a day at the track where something broke?

Would AAA have a problem with this or are there exclusions from racing in the fineprint?

Maybe I should look into getting a trailer to transport the car to and from the track?

Its my second car, but a DD as well so if things break it can be layed up for a while getting fixed.

Yes, I have used AAA to get towed from .... wait for it....AutoClub Speedway in Fontana! My clutch failed so I needed a tow to get the car from the track to my local repair shop about 50 miles away.

The lady at the AutoClub thought it was a joke when I called and asked for towing service and then gave that location. The tow driver did a great job of getting my car on the flatbed without any worry on my part.

I have the 200 mile extended towing plan (there are no exceptions except for distance) so I had my car towed directly to the repair shop where the owner met me to accept the car into the shop (you have your shop owner's cell phone number for Sunday evening emergency drop off's, right?).

These days, I have partnered with the shop that does most of the work on my car (Hergesheimer Motorsports) and they provide support at the track including having space in their trailer in case something breaks on my car and I can't drive the car home. The cost is very reasonable and provides good peace of mind knowing that mechanics/parts and expert advise is available at the track should something arise.

Long time AAA member and value their service. Albeit, never used them for my Boxster (knock wood) - I'm confident if I need to use them.

Nice,

Lets see how far I can get home without trailer support:

Willow Springs to 92530 - 143 mi
Pamona Fairplex to 92530 - 53 mi
Qualcom San Diego to 92530 - 83 mi
Fontana Speedway to 92530 - 58 mi
El Torro, Irvine to 92530 - 45 mi Via the Ortega "Twisties" highway no less....BONUS!

Did I miss any PCA favorites under 200 mi?

Wow AAA $78/year membership should do the trick (100mi tows) until I go to Willow and beyond .

How many tows am I allowed per year? 4 tows for free.

This could work out pretty good.

Hmmmmm, I've flown my Motor Glider over Willow a few times and never even realized it....isnt there a little airport real close by?

Lone Pine going North....too far north of Willow?

Tehachapi area too far North I guess

Yep,
I have AAA Premier with 200mi limit and they flat bedded my car from Willow Springs once. I had an 80 mph "agricultural excursion" and tapped one of my radiators on a gator on the way out just enough to cause a leak. No other damage to the car but my student got an "E" ticket ride going backwards in the dirt. He still likes to tell the story. I wish he would stop telling the story already.

The other nice thing about PCA is a "No one left behind policy". If your car is down and you don't have a trailer, someone with a trailer and a street legal car will always give you a lift.

Going out to WSIR this weekend for a PCA Time Trial. It looks like hot weather so a personal best lap is unlikely but we dare to dream. All fresh fluids, fresh filters, fresh alignment and the Data logger is primed.

I was able to get AAA to tow my Boxster (after breaking a control arm on lap 1 at the track . ), and it wasn't even my subscription! 70 mile tow, and it only cost $100, since we had to upgrade my friends AAA service to Premier to get the 100 mile towing... Still significantly cheaper than the $420 for the next closest quote!

What are you flying? Looks like it could be a Sonex Xenos or is it something old and rare?
