Fresh hi-temp brake fluid, hi temp brake pads, quality street tires, and maybe a CG-Lock, is all you need for your first year. Ignore all the other cars and just focus on learning your car at it's limits. Ride with as many instructors as you can.

Any recommendations on a good brake pad that works good on the street and on the track ?

I have used both EDC Redstuff and Yellowstuff which are reasonably affordable.

Redstuff works well when starting out in DE and you need something better than stock pads (also very low dust and no squeal after break-in).

Yellowstuff works even better once you are good enough that you're melting your brake wear sensors and frying the Redstuff pads (they are also fine on the street and have average dust but no squealing after break-in).

Sleep well the night before and remember to drink a lot of fluids. Its easy to forget to eat and drink and get worn out (and lose your concentration) by noon.

Also, as Topless said, don't change anything substantial on the car for the first year. Learn to drive it stock first and THEN improve the car when you have progressed to the point of being a better driver than the car.

I have driven my stock car on 35 track days over 14 months and while I've slowly improved the tires and alignment, I am only now planning on PSS9 coilovers and GT-3 sways. The stock car has MUCH more capability than most people ever imagine.

In fact, last weekend at the track Brad and I checked lap times and I was turning lap times equal to a place about 2/3's of the way back in the field of Boxster Spec cars - which is pretty darn good for a car with 106,000 miles on the original suspension, heavier, without an UDP, etc.

it is amazing how running around the track wears you out so quickly . I was prepared for it (from reading on this forum) with lots of fluids , snacks and 5 hour in between runs.
A lot of people where complaining about how tired they where by the end of the day.
I would like to just do the stuff to my car that would help with durability at the track. Like brake pads and an under drive pulley. I already got the R.O.W. M030 and a good alignment .
