Used Hoosiers

I just bought a set of wheels that came with Hoosier R7 tires. The prior owner says they have 8 heat cycles on them. My question is...do they have any value.

Sizes are 225/45/17 fronts and 245/40/17 rears.

I am not an expert on R7's, but my understanding is that R7's generally fall off after about 6-8 heat cycles. So, I would think that those tires could be used for practice or testing, but they typically wouldn't be used in a race.

What is critical is how they were broken in and used. If they were not broken in properly or abused (over heated), then they could be completely gone with those few heat cycles.

They don't have a lot of value but maybe $75-150 for the set of 4.

I would rock 'em until you get to the cord. (Which won't be steel on the Hoosier, but rather, some sort of textile.). Have fun - even heat cycled out Hoosier will have more grip than anything actually designed for the street.

They will wear out really fast, though, so no long-distance trips. Stay away from wet/rain.

R7s usually fall off a cliff gripwise at 8HC. 12HC and you are skating on ball bearings. Might be fun to hoon around on them for a bit and then once they are hockey pucks do some epic burnouts in a parking lot.

Not much value beyond a few kicks and grins.
