Loving the Boxster

I've had my Boxster for just about 3 weeks now - my initial observations:

Love the look - intoxicating

Love the handling - getting used to the weight distribution; PSM is a good thing for a first time Boxster owner.

Headlights (not Litronic) suck

Adjusting to key position (on the left)

Learning to work the power band - slower than my BMW but usable power at the right RPMs

Already ran out of gas - evidently the needle doesn't go all the way to empty

First mods on the way (Ipod connector and "red clip" -- colored crest center caps and storage bin for CD shelf swap next). Not sure if those count as mods but...

All in all --- I'm in love.

I have never used my 'red clip', yet!

Pretty soon, you will be annoyed about the key being on the 'right-side' with your other cars!

I've used my red clip a few times already. It's quite handy to have around!

I've also noticed the fuel gauge in the Box behaves differently than my previous cars:

It starts dropping from F almost immediately when driving after a fillup. The last few times I've filled up, I've put in about 12.5 gallons, and only one of those times, did the low fuel light come on. I know with putting 12.5 gallons in that tank, there should be near 4 gallons left.

Anyway, almost 3 months with my Box, and I LOVE it!

I'm wondering if the 987 red clip is same as 986's. My 987 didn't come with it. Maybe my dealer forgot? I have one for my previous 986 though.

I think the red clip is not a Porsche/OEM thing... You can get one from Suncoast Porsche. I ordered a couple things from them, and added the red clip while I was at it. It's worth a few bucks!

Mine came with a Porsche part # on the bag so it has to be OEM.

Hmmm this little red clip mystery.

Thanks bmussatti, if they are same, they are designed for 986.
It fits 987, but not perfectly as with 986.

It's shocking if it is not OEM, FrayAdjacent.
That means my stealer gave me something for free!

Same here, ehD. The dealer thought I was crazy and had no idea what I was talking about...

I ended up ordering it online. I haven't used it very often, but it's nice to have it in case I need it !
