I have a Porter Cable unit...

...which I used to use on my previous car with great results. With careful checking of the pad to make sure it is clean, it is totally safe. (This is an orbital we're talking about, not a pro-grade rotating unit which can even burn or leave swirl marks)

I haven't been using it on the Boxster, as I apply wax with my warm fingertips only. This process is enjoyable to me and I'm in no hurry. But if speed was an issue I would not hesistate to break out the orbital.

Your call...

Waxing

JT,

I only wax by hand -- it is such fun!!! Wax on, Wax off. I use my fingers to apply and 100% USA made cotton terry towels, washed numerous times, without fabric softeners to polish off.

Actually, my only concern of the power units, even the low RPM orbitals, is they may cause a burn: OUCH!!

Also, I believe you can get better, more controled applications and finishing by hand.

Ed
