For us here is California we need them and if we don't have them it is a perfect excuse to get on the bad side of a police officer and gives them a cause to pull you over. I was ticketed by a MeterMaid years ago when i was 19 for no font plate and i let that mofo goto collections LOL, I just called and said i lost the ticket and the person on the phone said the metermaids arent allowed to ticket for no front plate UNLESS its in combination with another more serious violation like double parked or parking meter out of time. So he removed it from the system for me.
