rear end conversion 00-03

Let me start out by saying the boxster is a good looking car apart from minnor things. I am anal about my cars looks. A little OCD and was a show winning auto body tech. I have a 00' S it has the rubber bumpers on eather side of the license plate which I'm going to paint. If I would have to replace the wing and deck lid to make the 03' rear bumper fit. The wing is thicker with more of a curve does anyone know if you would have to replace all 3 items or can I just swap out for the slightly newer bumper cover?

As far as I know, if you just want the 03 rear bumper, it should fit fine just by swaping them out. But the spoiler is completely different. Since its wider than the earlier ones, you will have to switch out the trunk lid too. I don't know if anyone has done this either. If I were you. I would go with the Cayman "style" turbo spoiler that is made for our cars. Its a direct replacement and looks much better than any of the O.E.M. spoilers. Let me know if you want a link to the spoiler web site. Another alternative to the rear bumper is at VIS racing. Check out their body kits.

Or try this web site. This is the best rear end in my opinion.

I have replaced my 2001 Rear with a 2003-2004. It's fairly simple, but you do have to change the bracket and cover for the rear spoiler. You also have to purchase the heat shields and those things are not cheap. Total upgrade cost me around $1200-$1300 that includes the bumper, spoiler, and heat shields. I did the install myself in a matter of a few hours. That saves mucho $$ on labor

LOL are you trying to imply something CJ?

Just for the record no that’s not the only DUY I've gotten.....No wait that’s not the only DIY I've done. I did the front end myself as well. I Installed the Intake myself. I Did the first stereo install myself. Some other things here and there if I have time. I just find the dealer so convenient. Drop off pick up and done.

i have the 02 bumper on my 99, the bumper is bolt on, as far as the heat shields I just bent mine up so that they can not be seen from the new openings, I am running the stock spoiler still, I do intend on upgrading to the correct spoiler.

Is there a gap with the old wing still on? So we are on the same page, no need to get a diffrent deck lid? Thanks everyone

the gap is behind the old spoiler, i don't think a new trunk lid is needed, i think just a spoiler cover and maybe some harware, but on that part i do not know yes, as i have not changed out the spoiler.

As I stand a 99 with the new rear bumper and 99 spoiler everything works fine there is just a indention in the bumper for the new spoiler, the trunk lid fits fine.
