What type, kind and brand did you get?

boggtown 02-05-2007 03:33 PM

Ummm... easy peasy lemon squeezee. Just take out the old intake (I heard you have to cut it out, no way to get it out otherwise) then just put the new one in, hook up the intake tube, and your golden. I was considering buying an evo intake, and raffling it off for forum members. Like 10 bucks a ticket (id buy a ticket myself of course, lol) and id have to sell a minimum of 40 tickets, but one lucky person would get one for 10 bucks. Not for profit of course, Id use the money made (if any) to buy something else to raffle for everyone. Whod be interested?

DJ -

As always any write up with pictures is appreciated, even if nobody else at the moment will be doing it, I am sure someone in the future will :)

Although I don't need it,I'm sure there will be plenty of other current & future Boxster owners would who could use it.

Hi DJ,

I would be interested in seeing a writeup and pictures. I am thinking about getting the EVO High flow intake and would take the plunge if it looks easy enough. Thanks,

Mike

Pics vs. size

DJ, sounds good to do pics and write up. Could you please resize your photos to about 8 x 11 with around a 14 second download? Your usual pics are so large my Jurassic dial up service takes about 20min to download so I have missed most of your photos and I really would like to see them. Thanks in advance,

986geezer

They are NOT the same. The EVO High Flow intake kit comes with it's own air box, the TrueFlow, which is what I have does not require the romoval of the stock air box like the EVO ones does. The TrueFlow just uses a drop-in filter that uses the exsisting stock airbox, but does replace the stock tube/snorkle. The TrueFlow is much easier to install. The EVO is probably better, but requires you to remove allot of crap that is in the way (like the intake manifold) and without a mechanical malual it would not be easy. The EVO also has its own housing for the mass-air flow sensor. The TrueFlow uses the stock airbox, so you don't even have to touch the sensor. Just thought you should know.

oh really, i didnt know the evo came with a MAS, would it be more reliable than the stock MAS?
Does someone have a picture of the EVO intake?

WHAT? That's NOT what I said. Read it agian, I said it comes with it's own "housing", not it's own MAS! All I was trying to say is that you have to re-locate the MAS into the new "housing" that is outside of the airbox on the tubing. The TrueFlow uses the stock airbox which is also where the MAS is seated. So you don't have to move it. Maybe housing isn't the best word for me to be using, but it's just a whole where the MAS goes into. On most, it's just a rubber-like gromet. On EVO's it's a hard plastic-like casing/housing that is just before the airbox, between the tubing. Look at these pictures.

Thats cool. But I noticed he originally said PowerFlow??? Not TrueFlow. Is he talking about another intake, or was he just getting the name wrong? PowerFlow sounds like a better name, that's for sure. Also, I found out that the TrueFlow "Kit" has been discontinued. They now ONLY carry the filter. I'm glad I got mine before they stopped making them.
