Ummm... easy peasy lemon squeezee. Just take out the old intake (I heard you have to cut it out, no way to get it out otherwise) then just put the new one in, hook up the intake tube, and your golden. I was considering buying an evo intake, and raffling it off for forum members. Like 10 bucks a ticket (id buy a ticket myself of course, lol) and id have to sell a minimum of 40 tickets, but one lucky person would get one for 10 bucks. Not for profit of course, Id use the money made (if any) to buy something else to raffle for everyone. Whod be interested?

DJ -
As always any write up with pictures is appreciated, even if nobody else at the moment will be doing it, I am sure someone in the future will :) -T |
Although I don't need it,I'm sure there will be plenty of other current & future Boxster owners would who could use it.

Great minds think alike :D

Hi DJ,
I would be interested in seeing a writeup and pictures. I am thinking about getting the EVO High flow intake and would take the plunge if it looks easy enough. Thanks, Mike |
Pics vs. size
DJ, sounds good to do pics and write up. Could you please resize your photos to about 8 x 11 with around a 14 second download? Your usual pics are so large my Jurassic dial up service takes about 20min to download so I have missed most of your photos and I really would like to see them. Thanks in advance,

I think I would just rather fabricate my own intake pipe... design it in such a way that the elbow/bends are as gradual as possible.

sorry for misscommunication, this one has its own C&C machined housing for MAF (i dont know if that better than the plastic EVO one or not) and does require to take everythign off just like the EVO, its the same thing, but does not have a shield, so i dont really know what you saw or where you saw it.
this is the one that i have: http://i143.photobucket.com/albums/r...s/IMG_1269.jpg and this is what it looks like installed: http://www.rahul.net/dennisp/boxster...-engine-sm.jpg this is the site that i got that pic this is the gist that they say, with real dyno data, so... " A frequent poster on the Boxster Racing Board installed one and did before/after dyno tests. It resulted in an impressive 14 horsepower and 12 lbs/ft torque gain. This was on top of power he'd already gained from installing a "Danske" muffler" and "Another Boxster Racing Board poster also performed dyno tests after installing a Powerflow intake. He reported a smaller 6 hp improvement on his website. Hard to say which is more representative, but it certainly does look like the Powerflow intake helps to some degree." so i guess it will do something for power, but add the sound. we shall see :) |

this is the one that i have: So it is called PowerFlow? Do you have a link for that intakePowerFlow web site? Yes, your right, it is just like the Evo one. I never heard of PowerFlow, only Trueflow, because that IS the one that I installed on my car. PowerFlow and TrueFlow, now I see why it's so confusing. Are there any others out there other than the K&N and these 2? |
I think I would like the EVO intake better because it seals up the engine compartment and pulls in cooler air from the outside of the car.
Question though: Does the EVO air filter require oil of any kind? I don't want to risk fouling out my MAF. |
the only thing that i can say is that people that dynoed their EVO intake had no power gain, and with this one they do get some. weird.
but its almost too easy to fab up a shield if needed. on some of the sites they have the powerflow with the shield, so i dunno. |
DJ, is the writeup still in the works? Just curious.
|
hey man, sory if you didnt see it, but theres a new forum section for DIY, as a matter of fact that was the 1st qwriteup, so it will be on the bottom of the page.
click here to go to the thread enjoy, and if you have any Qs, please do ask |
