MAC - I hope you don't beat yourself hope too bad. Leaving a convertible highly susceptible to electrical damage by water ingress is a design flaw, IMO. It's an all too common story. I drive my Boxster in fair weather but guess what? Rain showers sometimes happen unexpectedly. The drain plugs can become clogged if one is not diligent. Placing the DME in a Tupperware box as suggested by MNBoxster and/or using offset posts becomes a more pressing and necessary mod for me every time a water damage story is posted. Good luck, MAC!
