Jeez, ive gone 100 top down no problem. I think that a bit of foam tape under the screen will help. And super glue for the middle piece.

Hi,

Foam Tape seems to be the best. In addition to adhering the piece, it offers the added advantage of wedging it in place to negate the aerodynamic forces and reduce rattles.

Unfortunately, crooks also see what these pieces go for on eBay, and so these pieces have now taken on the added dimension of being eBay booty.

If I left my car for extended periods of time unattended, such as a daily driver, I might be inclined to considering Pop Riveting them in place. That way, they'd be more aerodynamic proof as well as more theft resistant...

Happy Motoring!... Jim'99

WOW. I can't believe all these problems with the windstop and inserts. I've got 55,000 on the odo, done several DE's with both the side grates and the middle plexiglas section in place and had no problems. I can't believe fishing line (fishing line????????), two sided tape or super glue is the answer to the problem, although I suppose whatever works. These pieces don't appear to be THAT poorly designed. I guess I've been lucky and haven't had these problems.

When I first got my Box last year, I was coming home from work on the expressway ( I-90 for those of you here in Chicago ). I looked in the rear view mirror just in time to see the passenger side windscreen blow out ! Initially I was just going to head home then I thought, well, might as well go back and look for it. I got off at the next exit, got back on ( heading the other way ), got off and back on again heading the original direction, and sure enough I found it lying in the road, undamaged ! When I got home I looked up how much it would have cost to replace the part ( $110 each ) and I was glad I went back for it ! I placed small rubber pads at the contact points with the roll bar and now they seem to sit nice and snug...

Now if I could just get the windscreen to stop rattling

( I did place some weather stripping on the bottom which helps but it still rattles. )

Nick
