had a nice night out with the GF last night, parked the car on the street.
went home everything was fine, this morning i get to the car and see 2 deep scratches on a passinger side mirror, trough clearcoat, paint, and primer. wtf im gonn attempt to touch it up, but wow, it was definitely a key or somethign along those lines. |
Hi,
"I hate haters..." Yea, alot of that going around. Sorry to hear of your trouble... Happy Motoring!... Jim'99 |
That really sucks - I don't understand people sometimes.
|
People like those should be shot in the head!

As they used to say in the Westerns, "the bullet passed right through, didn't hit anything!" |
dude, i'm telling you...some people!
over here just the other night, someone, a 23 yrs. old guy, test driving a brand new mitsubishi (not sure what model) with the salesman, a 19 yr. old, and a big nissan suv cut hims off, hand signs exchange and the passenger of the suv shot the test driver 3 times, got hit in the head and died on the way to hospital...now they are in hiding! http://www.ktvu.com/news/10736081/detail.html?rss=fran&psp=news some people just dont value life! |
Just a month ago someone thought it would be funny to jump up and down on my front hood. estimated cost...$1800. I'm waiting for winter to be over before I actually replace it.
|
Sorry to hear man. Jealous folks everywhere. Well, at least it wasn't on any body panel that you would have to remove and respray. Good luck with the touch up.
|
Might be an opportunity to...
upgrade to some CF mirrors! But seriously that sucks, I've come out to find a big globs of flegm on my hood a couple of times. Makes me wish I was walking to my car when it happened and call the cops on the bastards. Some people are just jealous A-holes. Good luck with the repairs!

i will attemp the repainr tomorrow sometime when theres daylight.
but the scratches are about 2 inches long, each, accross the mirror, like from the winddshield and accross |
I'm sure there are exceptions, but that is one nice thing about Los Angeles...there are many pricier and more eye catching rides on the streets that my little dark Boxster hardly gets a second glance, let alone a target of vandalism.
BTW, is it just me or does it seem a lot of bad stories here come from Chicago? -David |
one of the first nights I had mine, I took a run to a target with the wife, in a great area, by woodfield mall.....for those in chicago.....came out to find it covered in what I believe to be ketchup or some kind of sauce sprayed everywhere......had togo wash the car....total downer
|
people in chicago are fu*king haters, my girlfriends brothers car got keyed on both sides, bumper, and read bumper, and eggs thrown at it in his own driveway, my GFs car itself got keyed, now mine.
then when i had the other car, someone decided to kick the 1/4 panel in with their foot and then finish it off by hitting the panel itself with a baseball bat, and smashing my rear window. and then i sold that camaro after a while, bought one just like it, and after 2 weeks ow owning it someone smashed both of my tail lights while parked at a restaurant. |
Jeez, I thought I was being paranoid about parking my boxster for any period of time. Apparently my fears are comfirmed unfortunately. :( Honestly, I don't like the car to be out of my sight because of crap like this. My car is dentless and scratchless and I'd like to keep it that way. It's a sad and cruel world out there.
|
Someone should make a system where when someone does something unfavorable to your car, the car will explode. I know, I know, goodbye car, but at least, goodbye pest!
|
My friend's boxster was beaten with a bat (windows, doors, hood). Several cars in the neighborhood received similar abuse. The good news is that a cop saw some teens a few blocks away, strolling down the street with a... baseball bat! This particular baseball bat had guards red embedded in it. More proof that mean and dumb are closely related.
The other good news is that insurance covered it and the car came back from the shop looking perfect. |
Ive called the cops on people before messing with my car. Nothing happens though, just tell them that they will get banned from where ever they were or some stupid crap like that. Ive thought about buying a wireless camera to keep in the car. The camera itself it like a small spy camera and it hooks up to a dvr or something. I estimate itd cost me a couple hundred bucks for cameras (2 or 3) and a couple hundred for the dvr. Just keep them on the dash and itd catch anybody walking by or messing with the car. Maybe when I dont have anything to do with my money, lol.

One day a local prepaid-girl wanted me to take her for a drive. I told her that no one rides for free. The next day I found a big piece of bubble gum stuck on my fender. I am pretty sure I can connect the dots.
That being said, I think people causing damage to other's property is largely a North American phenomena. When I lived in Canada I had my car keyed more than once but I do not see the same attitude here. But if someone did key a car here it could have much more serious ramifications than in Canada especially if the car was owned by the wrong person. |
you guys need to seriously invest in a car cover. i lock mine up if i leave it for a long time and never have had any attacks. it works great during hot summer days also, keeps car cooler.
|
While it may not make you feel much better...
It was 1996. I was driving a 10 year old VW Golf. Parked it outside my office building. Was working overnight. Came out the next morning.. Front fender, two doors and the rear fender on the right side.. each panel had the same, size 11 Timberland workboot imprint and an accompanying dent. 4 panels smashed on a 10yr old vw. WTF! Sorry to hear about your mirror. :( |

What the hell's a pre-paid girl? A hooker? |

The only abuse I've gotten in the boxster is the single time I left the top down and ran into a Krogers for 3 minutes. Came out and someone spat their gum out on my new floormat (driver's side). I'm thankful they didn't hit the leather seat. That would have been a mess to clean off. No more leaving the car in parking lots when the wife can't run in, top up or top down. |
Well, technically.....um.....yes.
But think of it more like a university student who needs money to buy some books. ;) Quote:

At work, I try to mind my own business and park far away from others. Once I returned to find two junkers parked (backed into their spaces) on either side of my car so I could barely get the door open. On some days, I find it more enjoyable to drive my nondescript Mazda Tribute. When I'm in the Porsche, people tailgate like mad and will do anything not to let me in when a merge comes up. There's a lot of pent-up frustration in this country. Maybe it's an economic thing.

i would just liek to know what these people think when they do this? do they actually think this trough and do it or just like, look theres a nice car lets scratch it? or what? i mean i dont see any satiffaction by doing this? |

i guess i would understand if someone stole soemthign from my car, you can resell it and get some $ out of it, but this just makes no sense
|
Remind me to drive the company car whenever in Chicago and agree with the other guy that at least it was a mirror and not a fender/quarter panel you'd have to repaint...

how expencive is their 'education' there anyways?

Haven't had any hater-stuff happen to me yet. I never leave the top down unless I'm in work parking, and I always keep it out of main people traffic areas at other parking lots and such. One thing I do suggest tho, if you play loud music or rev yer engine, don't when yer getting within a quarter mile of your destination. Don't make yourself a target to people who might see you park or be near it later. If you park nose-in (the headlights are more eye-catching than the rear end), you might slightly decrease the hater odds as well.
I'm sure eventually something's going to happen, but I like trying to cheat the odds any way I can. -David |
Things haters have done to my car to date in the year I have had it,for some reasons it's all my co-workers(thankfully I won't work there much longer);
-Someone tried to put a cigarette out on it. -A group of them surrand wrapped my car. |

Model school is a lot more expensive. Can be up to $100 a day, but sometimes that will get a full week of lessons. |
These things don't only happen to people who own porsches but to anyone who has a nice car or truck, people are jealous of the ones who have more.
Don't hate admire ,envy and try to be better u bunch of loosers :D |

If you don't try to prevent things like this from happening and when it happens, you shouldn't be upset because you knew this would happen somewhere in the back of your mind. it's a gamble to leave a convertible open or where people cannot see it at all times. you are inviting the person to vandiaize your car. I always try to park where it's by the front door or cover the car if it's far away. Every lesson has a price, at least this one was a cheap one. There are people out there that get satisfaction from pissing off others, you just happen to meet one on your outing. |

Now to get back on Porsche topic. A couple of weeks ago I lent the car to a bar who photographed a couple of bikini girls standing in front of the car which was parked in front of the bar. I will be sure to upload these pictures as soon as I get them. One of the girls has been showing the photos to other models at the agency where she works. I have been getting calls daily from the other girls asking if they too can pose in front of the car. None of them seem to have any money though so I am offering use of the car in exchange for them serving drinks at a party I am having next month. There are some fringe benifits to owning one of the only Porches in the country. |
