Just a month ago someone thought it would be funny to jump up and down on my front hood. estimated cost...$1800. I'm waiting for winter to be over before I actually replace it.

Sorry to hear man. Jealous folks everywhere. Well, at least it wasn't on any body panel that you would have to remove and respray. Good luck with the touch up.

				Might be an opportunity to...

upgrade to some CF mirrors! But seriously that sucks, I've come out to find a big globs of flegm on my hood a couple of times. Makes me wish I was walking to my car when it happened and call the cops on the bastards. Some people are just jealous A-holes. Good luck with the repairs!

I'm sure there are exceptions, but that is one nice thing about Los Angeles...there are many pricier and more eye catching rides on the streets that my little dark Boxster hardly gets a second glance, let alone a target of vandalism.
BTW, is it just me or does it seem a lot of bad stories here come from Chicago?

people in chicago are fu*king haters, my girlfriends brothers car got keyed on both sides, bumper, and read bumper, and eggs thrown at it in his own driveway, my GFs car itself got keyed, now mine.then when i had the other car, someone decided to kick the 1/4 panel in with their foot and then finish it off by hitting the panel itself with a baseball bat, and smashing my rear window. and then i sold that camaro after a while, bought one just like it, and after 2 weeks ow owning it someone smashed both of my tail lights while parked at a restaurant.

Jeez, I thought I was being paranoid about parking my boxster for any period of time. Apparently my fears are comfirmed unfortunately. Honestly, I don't like the car to be out of my sight because of crap like this. My car is dentless and scratchless and I'd like to keep it that way. It's a sad and cruel world out there.

Someone should make a system where when someone does something unfavorable to your car, the car will explode. I know, I know, goodbye car, but at least, goodbye pest! |

My friend's boxster was beaten with a bat (windows, doors, hood). Several cars in the neighborhood received similar abuse. The good news is that a cop saw some teens a few blocks away, strolling down the street with a... baseball bat! This particular baseball bat had guards red embedded in it. More proof that mean and dumb are closely related.
The other good news is that insurance covered it and the car came back from the shop looking perfect.

Ive called the cops on people before messing with my car. Nothing happens though, just tell them that they will get banned from where ever they were or some stupid crap like that. Ive thought about buying a wireless camera to keep in the car. The camera itself it like a small spy camera and it hooks up to a dvr or something. I estimate itd cost me a couple hundred bucks for cameras (2 or 3) and a couple hundred for the dvr. Just keep them on the dash and itd catch anybody walking by or messing with the car. Maybe when I dont have anything to do with my money, lol.

One day a local prepaid-girl wanted me to take her for a drive. I told her that no one rides for free. The next day I found a big piece of bubble gum stuck on my fender. I am pretty sure I can connect the dots.
That being said, I think people causing damage to other's property is largely a North American phenomena. When I lived in Canada I had my car keyed more than once but I do not see the same attitude here. But if someone did key a car here it could have much more serious ramifications than in Canada especially if the car was owned by the wrong person.

you guys need to seriously invest in a car cover. i lock mine up if i leave it for a long time and never have had any attacks. it works great during hot summer days also, keeps car cooler.

While it may not make you feel much better...
It was 1996. I was driving a 10 year old VW Golf. Parked it outside my office building. Was working overnight. Came out the next morning.. Front fender, two doors and the rear fender on the right side.. each panel had the same, size 11 Timberland workboot imprint and an accompanying dent. 4 panels smashed on a 10yr old vw. WTF!

Sorry to hear about your mirror.
