DJ..better hurry up and photoshop the color of your car..hahahahaha! j/k David...now thats what you call "Ball Of Steel"...i think that would look better in rear view mirror than the playboy air freshener :D |
Yeah, I know what color his car is. And now everyone knows I don't like it. But I hate silver too (any variant), and that pisses off far more people than the five owners of the only Jade Green boxsters to ever be ordered.
However, I dislike silver for a different reason... it's not a pansy color, it's just terribly overused on every friggin' car model on the road, Porsche included. I'm tired of seeing it and refuse to have it on any car I drive. I'm sure everyone said this about black in the Model T days, and that's all I will drive today. So what comes around goes around I guess. I just don't like trendy colors like speed yellow, bright green, pink, neon blue, etc. They are hard on my eyes and resale value is always low... not to mention it takes far longer to sell these color cars when they do go up for sale. |
Yah, i think silver is over use too eventhough my other car is silver :D
hey, have you installed your gift yet in your car? post some pix if you can :) |

My side skirts and rear diffusers will go to the paint shop just as soon as the new humps come in from California... they packed the first set poorly and one of the center pins is bent and they want to replace the whole set. GTMotorsports is a good company, but they need to hire some more people to bring up their response time on replacements.

Silver is the lightest paint sold by Porsche, it improves the aero dynamics as well.
The Germans didn't pick it as their national team's colors just because they like the way it looks! ...trust me, no need to search wikipedia. |
Perfectlap, you are using logic and I am using pure emotion and personal preference. You are indeed correct... but I just don't care because it's not about logic or aerodynamics or the fact that Germany's racing color is silver.
No offense to you, your incredibly shiny boxster, or your preference in car colors... it's just me, and it's just a very wierd personal preference, I know. |
It's not a manly car or a girly car. It's a Porsche. 'nuff said.
|
Randall, have you seen a Jade green in real life?
|
just kidding, silver is not lighter or more aero efficient.
Germans just like to keep things sparkling clean as much as possible, too much engineering they need to do with the rest of the day. Meanwhile the Italians choose red because it looks the nicest and since they take their sweet time to do EVERYTHING its no problema. |

I know for a fact red cars go faster :D |
oh randall....how could you

I am firmly convinced yellow is the best color for any kick ass sports car then followed by red, then silver. Black is the worst, this coming from somebody with a black BMW E36 318 and black BMW X5. The jade ain't bad either. Cobalt blue is another good porsche color. Randall, Randall, Randall....... and WHO said a M3 is a CHICK car???????? E46 M3's are pretty nice cars, 333hp. All they need is coilovers and brembos. The CSL competition package gives you that too. A chick car is a rabbit cab, or a beetle cab, or a mitsubishi eclipse. there AINT any Porsche car that could possibly be classified as a chick car. |

My bad... It was me - on the M3 post. But I was only talking about the convertible. I dig the coupe. Guess I should have kept my thoughts to myself. Never thought the comment would yield postings of bronze balls.... Oh well - still think they look girleeeeee! |

What year Model T do you drive? ;) |
Breaker 1-9
How about adding a huge whip antenna for the CB Radio to go with the bull horns and the gun rack. I mean...that should really be enough...

If you want it to be more manly, Learn how to drive it. Skip Barber 3 day racing school comes to mind.

I just don't get it...
What is not manly about the Boxster? http://986forum.com/forums/attachmen...tid=4986&stc=1 |
^Needs deambering and 18" wheels

Ha! That is hilarious - Love the "Princess"....

I find it annoying on a number of levels that people out there insinuate that a Boxster is "girly" or "a lesser Porsche."
As many of stated here, it's a fine automobile for a variety of reasons, including but not limited to: 1) It's a Porsche, whether 911 lovers like it or not 2) It handles like a dream; few cars can match it; that's a fact :D 3) It ranges from quick to pretty darn fast, depending on your year and whether or not you have an S 4) It saved Porsche; that's a fact 5) The Cayman is based off of it, which is another worthy Porsche I gotta admit, I'd take a 911 Turbo or maybe a Carrera 4S over my Boxster, but I'd also be spending $65,000-$95,000 to buy one used. My Boxster used cost me just over $30,000  |

All very true except for #4 - the Fact that it saved Porsche. Since it's introduction, the Boxster has never outsold the 911 in any given year and while it may have added some net sales, it also undoubtedly skimmed off some (maybe even a significant number) sales of 911s because it was a pure roadster and because it was cheaper. The moneymaker which pulled Porsche back from the abyss was the Cayenne... Happy Motoring!... Jim'99 |

I think it is apples & oranges...IIRC in 93 or 94, they sold less than 4000 cars total.....people thought they were ripe for a takeover big time. The 968 and the 928 were phased out in 95. The Box debuted 93? and was a reality for 97, right? When did the Cayenne start? What the Box did was give back to Porsche the entry level car sale $$ they had lost from the 944 to 968 transition, to provide enough additional funds to avoid takeover, develop the 996, and the Cayenne. When the Cayenne came, Porsche was back on its own feet, because of the Box.
There were less then 5000 968's brought into the US over 4 years. How many boxsters went in the 1st 2 years? alot more than 5000. The original Boxster price matched the outgoing 968 coupe, like 395 or somewhere about there. |
:d
Take your dress and wig off and put on a tank top, use a magic marker to draw an anchor tatoo on your left deltoid, get a plastic cigar...
More manly :D |
