What has happened is one of the microswitches is worn, and it is bouncing "open"/closed, causing this.

Do you have a floppy door handle? If you open the door, and leave it open does the window stay down?

I'd be inclined to suspect door latch - they are a common failure point.
Thanks very much for the message. It's odd because the slight window drop function (when the handle is pulled) hasn't worked for years but the window seems to be seated to both avoid the frame when closing, and to stop any ingress of water/rain. So the twitching is odd because that function hasn't even worked for a long time. The window drop on the right hand side works but the window is seated too high so hits the frame when closed.

The passenger door handle does not seem floppy. If I oped the door, the window remains in place no matter whether up or down. Is replacing the door latch microswitch DIY-able for someone with basic skills and tools? Thanks.
