The part number that come up for my car (2001 986S) is 98637525501 which is a lot thinner, and cost $14.19 ea.
Is there a reason why you did the comparison with the newer part number?

I intend to just buy them, so trying to find out if I should go with the newer design or the correct older design.
Too long ago to remember... likely there was confusion between the parts for the original 986 mount and the replacement 987 mount.
