Welcome, and enjoy! You might want to check some of the back posts for the many threads on 'which Boxster to buy'... this is a perennial favorite here at 986forum.com!

Welcome. What kind of boxster do you have in mind? 2.5 2.7 or 3.2?

Thank's guy's for the welcome!, I have driven both a 2.5L, when they first came out, and I drove a 2.7L about 6 Month's or so ago. I really prefer the 2.7L not only for the motor, but for the interior improvement's, big difference. I actually was scheduled to go and test drive a beautiful "S" but could not make it( busy schedule) the Porsche dealer ended up selling her, but I am in no rush anyhow. I really liked the scream the 2.7 let out from about 5K to redline! I have heard the "S" is a bit more "even" toned is that so? I will definatley check that thread as well, thanks again guys..

I can't really answer that since I have never driven the 2.7L boxster. Too me, I would think the 3.2L would have a throatier sound because of the larger displacement and because of it's exhaust. IMO, it sounds pretty darn good for a stock system, especially from 5k-7.2K like you said. I believe the redline is 7.4k on the 2.7L. The added displacment kills off 200 rpm on the S.

Thanks for the welcome. Adam I found a nice vid of a member's "S" . The 3.2L definatley has more of a bark to it!, the 2.7L has more of a higher pitched sound, when they both start screaming at 5K!. To my ear I actually prefer the "S" engine sound, I need to go drive 1!!

It would be interesting if someone could pull together sound clips of all three engines with the same exhaust on each.

Just a thought.
