Memory Seat, Key Programming

Hello everyone,

I am struggling with erasing and setting the memory buttons for my seats/mirrors, keys. I have read the owners manual steps, watched YouTube videos, and believe I have followed it to the letter (so far as I understand), and the programming doesn't seem to take.

But, I'll restate the steps here to make sure I'm not cross eyed.
  1. Put key in ignition
  2. Turn key to "On" (full dash lights, not running)
  3. Set seat, mirrors to desired position
  4. Press and hold "M" button, and press the desired button: key, or 1, or 2.

When I try to do this, even while I'm holding the "M" button if I Press the "1" or the "2" the seat starts moving to the pre-loaded settings instead of setting mine.

Also, when following instruction for clearing the stored settings:
  1. Key in on position
  2. Hold Key button and Hold "2" button for 5 seconds

This does not appear to clear the codes, and instead starts moving the seat into the prestored position 2.

Same with trying to program the keys...seats start moving instead of programming.

Am I missing something...is my "M" button malfunctioning (physically it looks and depresses like normal...not clicky/chunky/broken.

TIA!
