I think you misunderstood,I still use the firewall/engine cover. I just put did step 1 of 3 to cover the engine,leaving the sound deadening panel and rear speaker kit out. As for the plastic window warping,I doubt it,I only drove the car for 15 minutes like that and I still used the firewall,heck I didn't even notice a rise in heat in the cockpit.
