Question Weird lighting issue

Hello,

I have a 2003 Boxster S.

The lights in the glove box, trunk, frunk and the illuminated switches by the seat for the frunk and trunk do not turn off. This is even after locking the car. They stay on permanently which is reason for the battery drain.

Does this car have a separate module for these lights that could be faulty?

To me that seems to be a fault of your m53x, This has a consumer on / off relay that might be faulty or the m53x doesnt get the correct input signals to switch consumers off.

Smallblock454 could be right. Here are a couple of additional components to consider:

1. Many people (including me) have experienced issues with a faulty ignition switch. When the switch fails, it can cause some odd issues. I suggest that you search on the term "ignition switch" and see whether anyone else reported the same symptoms you have and resolved them by replacing the ignition switch.

2. Another component that seems to fail frequently is the light switch on the dash. I recommend that you search on that topic too and see what you find. If you think the problem could be due to a failing light switch, consider removing it from the dash and cleaning with electronic contact cleaner. Replacement light switches are pricey.

Good luck
