1997 Security Alarm System

I had to replace my driver door latch. My keyfob lock/unlock function also deteriorated at the same time. Currently I only have the chip inside the keyfob. It is still recognized and able to start the vehicle. After replacing the door latch I have these issues. I can manually lock/unlock the driver door, but the passenger door does not lock/unlock. The central locking switch inside the vehicle does not work at all now. I tried the 9-pin door latch, but no luck. I now have the 8-pin latch and it seems to work, but obviously I don't have full function. Windows perform the door opening down without issue and I can fully roll the windows up and down with the key from the door latch itself. The interior lights work when pulling the handle and the alarm goes off if I try to manually open the passenger door because it doesn't lock from the driver door with the key. Lastly, the alarm LED on the dash waits about 5-10 seconds before it starts flashing twice every 2 seconds. The Bentley manual states that this is an alarm triggered, but the alarm doesn't trigger unless I open the passenger door. The obvious problem is the passenger door not locking from the key in the drivers door. It was working just fine before the keyfob internal board stopped working. Any suggestions? Any luck using a Volkswagen door latch as a replacement?

Just returned from porsche palooza in nw ar. Motel parking lot around my room had 5 911-986 appeared to be early 2000s cars. All of us set off our alarms at some point. Talked to lots of other folks who have the same problem

My car has those fantom alarm issues I have read about. Cant lock/unlock with fob without setting off alarm. Sporadically set off alarm with key lock, unlock. Filler door sticks after alarm issue. first night, locked with key, red light on dash flashed all night. 6:30 am unlocked with key, set alarm off. Quickly put key in ignition and alarm stopped. Hit the dash button, don’t remember if was red. Go to buy gas, can’t get filler door open. Broke replacement filler door cable. Two 911s pull up and tell me to try starting car, did and filler door opened.

I replaced filler door servo last fall. Codes cleared

Been to two different independent Porsche shops, they can’t make fail. No codes. Anyone find a diagnostic decision tree to help find which element is bad? There has to be a fix? Even a proper locking/procedure process, may be something I’m doing.

Want to go to more out of town events but dont feel comfortable with car can’t lock. Not being able to buy gas when 200 miles from home, not good.

Any help appreciated

Less headache would be installing a solid aftermarket alarm system. No?

Have you replaced the ignition switch? My alarm used to randomly go off all the time (in all states of the car being locked/unlocked). I replaced the ignition switch and and the strange behavior stopped.
